On Children's Day

Stars of this World

I believe you to be pure joy-
A noisy bundle of mischief,
Emotions, not anyone's toy!

I believe you often feel lost -
Overcome by expectations,
Fearing what your dreams may cost.

I know you to be smart-
So full of questions, laughter,
Tears and a guileless heart.

But of one thing I am very sure-
You are the stars of this world,
You are wished the best forevermore.

(Dedicated to the 10th graders, drawing inspiration from Brucellish Sangma 's poem "I Believe ")
